Oman refineries, petroleum industries record 13% rise in output

Muscat: There has been a 13 per cent increase in the total production of refineries and petroleum industries by the end of July 2017 compared to the previous year.
The production of gasoline increased by 2.1 per cent in July compared to June 2017, according to the data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). The production of regular petrol (M91) increased by 55 per cent to 5.879 million barrels at the end of July 2017 compared to 3.784 million barrels in the corresponding period of 2016.
Its sales increased 29 per cent to 4.395 million barrels during the period compared to 3.415 million during the same period of 2016.
The production of M-95 declined 13 per cent to 9.26 million barrels at the end of July 2017 compared to 10.339 million barrels during the same period in 2016. Its sales also declined 14 per cent to 8.872 million barrels, the NCSI statistics, based on the data of Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic), showed.
The production of diesel increased 14 per cent to reach 14.119 million barrels. However, sales of diesel declined 5 per cent to 9.645 million barrels from 10.197 million barrels.
The production of aviation fuel increased by 18 per cent to reach 3.368 million barrels while its sales increased by 9 per cent to 2.803 million barrels.
The production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) reached 2.732 million barrels, comprising a rise of 62 per cent and sales increased by 6 per cent to 1.339 million barrels.
Benzene production dropped 11 per cent to 113,000 metric tonnes while paraxylene production declined 15 per cent to 333,000 metric tonnes.
Polypropylene production reached 151,000 metric tonnes, comprising a rise by 151 per cent compared with 148,000 metric tonnes during the period last year.
The Sultanate exported 1.353 million barrels of regular petrol during the period, 4.179 million barrels of diesel, 571,000 barrels of aviation fuel and 1.380 million barrels of liquefied oil petrol in July 2017, the NCSI data said.
