Three murder suspects held after body found in Oman

Muscat: Three suspects have been arrested after the Royal Oman Police (ROP) found a body in Hafeet region, police officials announced.
The Department of Criminal Investigation, led by the Al Buraimi Governorate Police, “arrested three persons of Asian nationalities accused of the murder. The victim belonged to the same nationality as the arrested persons,” the police force reported in an online statement.
An official source in the Royal Oman Police said: “Patrol men of the Hafeet police station found the victim’s body dumped in an area free of the population, and through search and investigation the perpetrators of the crime were caught.
“They admitted to killing the victim because of a dispute over trying to smuggle him out of the Sultanate,” the official added.
The defendants were referred to the public prosecution for investigation and forwarded to the competent court for trial.
