Communities living close to the Brazos River prepare for the worst as rain continues to fall from Hurricane Harvey.
Communities along the Brazos River are keeping an anxious eye on the swollen river as continuous rainfall from Harvey threatens to raise water levels to record-breaking highs in some parts.
According to the National Weather Service, the river is expected to reach flooding levels of between 51-59 feet by Monday (August 28), higher than levels in 2016, when the river caused flooding in several nearby communities.
In San Felipe, rain from Harvey has already inundated fields and flooded roads. An hour west of storm-battered Houston, residents of this rural community are now hoping to avoid a repeat of last year's floods.
The high water levels have prompted calls for mandatory and voluntary evacuation for several towns along the course of the Brazos River.
