Award for initiatives of Omani youth launched

Muscat: Under the patronage of Ali bin Khalfan Al Jabri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, the fifth edition of Al Roya Youth Initiatives Award 2017 was launched at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Wednesday, in the presence of innovators, interested youths, officials and applicants.
Ali bin Khalfan Al Jabri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, said in a press statement: “These initiatives and awards support the efforts of the Sultanate’s Government to encourage youth and motivate them to provide more initiatives that contribute to the service of the country and its economy”.
He pointed out that Al Roya Youth Initiatives Award 2017 includes initiatives in the field of culture and science, which is the focus of the government. He added that all governments seek to establish a developed society where technology is an impulse for diversifying areas of development of the national economy.
“By announcing the launch of the fifth edition of Al Roya Youth Initiatives Award 2017, Al Roya renews its commitment to continue supporting our young innovators for four years,” said Hatem bin Hamad Al Ta’ee, Editor-in-Chief of Al Roya newspaper, Supervisor General of the award.
Said Al Balushi, Senior Vice President for Technical Affairs at Occidental Oman, said that the company’s support for Al Roya Youth Initiatives Award stems from its deep belief in the importance of encouraging the youths to innovate and excel in various fields.
He added that the company’s keenness to support the award translates into clear interest in this type of initiatives, which fall within the strategic partnerships between the company and other institutions. — ONA
