Watchdog reclaims OMR1,300 for cheated citizen in Oman

Muscat: A citizen in South Sharqiyah was able to regain OMR1,300 from a carpentry workshop after they fitted flawed doors at his house.

A statement by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) read, "The authority was able to reclaim more than OMR1,300 in a friendly settlement.

"The citizen commissioned a carpentry workshop to fit doors for his house according to certain dimensions and specifications. After the doors were fitted, the citizen found flaws and mistakes in the work, and asked for the workshop to correct it. After they attempted to do so and failed, the carpentry workshop refused to add any further modifications.

"The citizen filed a complaint at PACP, which investigated the matter and contacted the shop. A friendly settlement between the two parties was reached and the citizen received a refund of OMR1,300, with the stipulation that the carpentry workshop would also retrieve its doors," the statement added.
