Three killed in Russia courthouse shooting

Three people being taken to stand trial in a Moscow court were shot dead after they tried to grab side-arms from court security officers and escape, Russian law enforcement officials said on Tuesday.

Five defendants were being escorted in a lift to the court room in Moscow's Regional Court when they tried to seize weapons from the security officers and escape.
In the commotion that followed three were killed and five injured, including three security staff.
The defendants are accused of being members of a group, dubbed the Grand Theft Auto Gang in the Russia media.
Prosecutors say they were responsible for a series of vehicle thefts that in several cases involved killing the cars' owners.
