Shabab Oman II is roaming ambassador of peace: President of Lithuania

Muscat: “The Royal Navy of Oman Vessel (RNOV) Shabab Oman II was the most exotic racer of this regatta,” the President of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaitė, said after speaking to the crowds of spectators and crew members.

Shabab Oman II is not only focused on investing in young people and building their skills, but also carrying a message on the traditions of friendship, tolerance and hospitality around the world.
The importance of Shabab Oman II goes beyond her role as a training ship for the Royal Navy of Oman, it is a roaming ambassador for the Sultanate of Oman.
Upon leaving the vessel the President of Lithuania wrote in the visitor’s book, “Perfect representation of your country around the world.”
A roving ambassador, the Shabab Oman II is currently anchored in Klaipeda had more than 30,000 people on board. She represents outstanding examples of Omani heritage and tradition: photography, hand painting, uniqueness of frankincense, traditional music, Omani food flavours and many more.”
“But most important is the hospitality and smiling faces of the crew, the warm welcome that was given by the Omani crew to the visitors is truly treasured in this changing world.
The atmosphere and warmth received is unforgettable,” Boleta Senkiene, the honorary consul of Oman in Lithuania, said.
Lithuania people have been impressed by the mixture of old and new, traditional and modern—Shabab Oman II is a true display of Oman’s maritime culture.
Not only does Shabab Oman II carry forward the work of her predecessor Shabab Oman, but she also gives a new expression to Oman’s long and distinguished maritime heritage. Hundreds of sea boats involved in the “Tall Ships’ Races 2017” are anchored in the Klaipėda Port through July 29 to August 1.
