Muscat: A delegation from Duqm Refinery recently visited the National Business Centre (NBC) at Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) to get acquainted with the services and incentives offered by NBC.
Officials at NBC briefed the visitors on the vision of the centre, which is recognised as a milestone project for entrepreneurs in Oman that was launched by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) in 2013 to offer promising Omani entrepreneurs a platform to develop their business ideas and advance them into growing ventures.
The centre offers an apt platform for Omani entrepreneurs by providing business development support and guidance, training and mentoring, access to markets and industry experts, and state-of-the-art and fully equipped office space, meeting rooms and presentation facilities.
NBC officials explained that the services of NBC are divided into three phases, comprising the pre-incubation, incubation phase, and acceleration phase. The centre seeks to facilitate and support the growth of investable ideas into successful businesses; build entrepreneurial skills through dedicated and focused training, coaching and mentoring; and provide business support facilities from office space, administrative support, financial support and consultancy services that are crucial in ensuring the success and survival of new ventures.
The delegates were also briefed on the experience of two incubated companies at NBC, which are Al Salama Fire Engineering Consultancy and Astronomy Pioneer Projects. Al Salama Fire Engineering Consultancy is one of the consultancies that is registered and approved by civil defence and specialises in designing buildings to meet the requirements of the Fire Hazard Prevention Department of the Directorate General of Civil Defence, along with NFPA codes, which are used for life safety and protection of buildings from fire loss.
Besides, the Astronomy Pioneer Projects is one of the companies seeking to encourage scientific curiosity in the society in astronomy, space and applied sciences by providing educational scientific tools and optical equipment, such as telescopes, microscopes and its technologies.
