Muscat: A disgruntled consumer in Rustaq received a full refund because the vehicle he bought in Rustaq was faulty, according to the consumer protection agency.
“Recently, a consumer bought a vehicle from a car gallery. As he used it, he noticed a wide spread of rust in many car parts, which affected the engine. This was accompanied by residue and evidence of the car having been damaged before, as well as inner scratched, plaster inserted into the front bumper," the agency revealed.
This caused the consumer to ask for a full refund.
“The car’s apparent condition did not align with its ‘brand new’ status, which was why he complained,” the statement added. “There was a disagreement, causing the consumer to contact PACP. The authority intervened, coordinating with the establishment. After an investigation, everyone reached a settlement by returning the vehicle and giving a full refund.”
This refund is part of ongoing efforts by the authority. PACP has, “recovered more than OMR 75,000 in Ibra, OMR 11,000 in Barka, and OMR2017 in Buraimi. The PACP has also played a part in Salalah’s Khareef activities,” the agency reported.
