New Delhi: Textiles Minister Smriti Irani on Tuesday assumed additional charge of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, replacing M Venkaiah Naidu who resigned following his nomination as NDA's vice presidential candidate.
"With blessings of PM @narendramodi ji, took Additional Charge of @MIB_India," Irani tweeted.
She later held a meeting with Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Prasar Bharati CEO S S Vempati and other senior officials of the I&B ministry.
Earlier, she also met Naidu.
The portfolio of urban development, which too was with Naidu, was given to Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, the PMO said.
