Ministerial decision for jewellery issued in Oman

Muscat: Dr. Ali bin Masaud bin Ali Al Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry has issued a ministerial decision No. 148/2017 considering standard specification on safety of jewellery of children (ASTM F2923 and the standard specification on safety of jewellery of adults (ASTM F2999) as obligatory Omani standard specifications.
The said standard specifications aims to ensure no impact of such products on consumers’ health and safety and to identify the safety requirements of artificial jewellery.
The two standard specifications shall apply after six-month from publication of the decision in the Official Gazette, according to the decision. Whoever violates the provisions of this decision shall be subjected to the penalties set forth in the Royal Decree No. 1/78.
