Omani at cutting edge of radioactive material risk research

Muscat: Professor Khalid bin Saif Al Nabhani has earned a scientific achievement and obtained the highest degree after Ph.D in the field of radioactive material risk assessment and management in the oil and gas industry.’
He completed the degree in only two and half years at Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
He is the first Omani and Arab professor on the level of North American University to earn this degree. In terms of its subject and content, the specialisation is a new promising research areas in the scientific circles. He has published five scientific papers in some of the most elite scientific magazines.
His research on Technologically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials in Oil and Gas Production: A Silent Killer.
The research paper was published in the issue number 99 of ‘Process Safety and Environmental Protection’ magazine in 2015.
His other research was titled Scenario-based Risk Assessment of TENORM Waste Disposal Options in Oil and Gas Industry.
The research was published at the ‘Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries’, volume 40, March 2016.
Memorial University nominated professor Al Nabhani, as per a recommendation from senior scientists in chemical engineering fields to take part in authoring a book on ‘Methods in the Safety of Chemical Processes.’
The book, which is planned to be taught in a number of universities round the world, will be a source for strategic researches in industrial and scientific society.
