Wash your hands to save a life, says Oman's Ministry of Health

Muscat: Oman’s Ministry of Health (MoH) has launched a “Clean Hands Save Lives” workshop for medical staff at Al Khoula Hospital. The Ministry of Health has maintained that clean hands before, during and after providing health care or while dealing with patients is the best way to prevent infections and illness.
The workshop will run for three days and is aimed at demonstrating the importance of hygiene in the medical environment to people working in the sector.
The Centre for Disease Control has found that handwashing education in the community reduces the number of people who get sick with diarrhoea by 31 per cent, reduces diarrhoeal illness in people with weakened immune systems by 58 per cent, and reduces respiratory illnesses, like colds, in the general population by 16-21 per cent.
