Orpic appoints general manager, technical services

Muscat: Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) announced the appointment of P.S. Moorthy as its general manager, Technical Services, with immediate effect.
Moorthy is a Singaporean citizen with Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, who comes with a 35 year-long track record in Petrochemicals, Utilities and Refining, eight years of which were in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. For the past 12 years, Moorthy has been with Shell in several reliability, maintenance and engineering roles.
Speaking on his appointment, Moorthy said, “I am excited to join such a progressive and forward thinking organisation and I am confident that together we can work towards making Orpic a leading performer.”
Moorthy was the Engineering Manager of Shell Singapore, which operates a complex of large, integrated assets—with an oil refinery (500 kbpd) that includes a Hydrocracker and a chemical complex that is capable of producing around a 1.2 mtpa of Ethylene.
He was also intensely involved in the commissioning of this Steam Cracker in 2010 when he was the Maintenance Manager for the whole site.
