Oman shares begin week on a flat note

Muscat: Trading volumes were tepid and the MSM30 Index closed on a flat note at 5,116.83 points, down 0.03 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index gained 0.30 per cent to end at 764.15 points. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer was Taageer Finance, up 4.55 per cent, while Phoenix Power was the top loser, down 1.69 per cent.
A total number of 320 trades were executed on Sunday, generating a turnover of OMR807,000 with 4.72 million shares changing hands. Out of 28 traded securities, 11 advanced, 4 declined, and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign Investors were net buyers for OMR86,000 followed by GCC & Arab Investors for OMR9,000 while Omani Investors were net sellers for OMR95,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained 0.25 per cent to close at 7,696.39 points. Taageer Finance, Al Izz Bank, Al Madina Investments, Al Anwar Holding and Al Madina Takaful gained 4.55 per cent, 3.75 per cent, 2.99 per cent, 1.86 per cent and 1.77 per cent respectively. NBO and Bank Muscat decreased 1.41 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended positively at 7,138.79 points, up 0.30 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Oman Fisheries and Al Anwar Ceramics increased 4.00 per cent, 1.37 per cent and 0.76 per cent respectively.
Services Index retreated 0.15 per cent to finish at 2,596.46 points. Phoenix Power, down 1.69 per cent, was the only sector mover.
