Oman municipalities shutter businesses for health violations

Muscat: A kitchen was closed down and 12 kilos of unsafe food destroyed after an inspection.
The municipality of Jalan Bani Bu Hassan found five violations and 65 pots not fit for use.
This came after a month of inspections at restaurants, salons, and cafes.
Earlier this month the inspections led to fines, warnings, and confiscation of several utensils that did not meet the standard level of hygienic requirements.
Rotten fruit destroyed
Over 400kg of melon and watermelon was destroyed after an inspection found that they were not suitable for consumption.
The Directorate General of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources of North Sharqia Governorate also performed inspections in salons, restaurants, and cafes throughout the month.
A beauty salon in Al Dakhiliyah was also closed after inspection. The Department of Health Control closed the beauty salon for not complying with the rules and conditions of sterilisation, during an inspection campaign on beauty salons in the province of Al Dakhiliyah.
This month, the Health Department has also cooperated with specialists of Al Mudhaibi municipality in implementing a joint inspection campaign on shops.
These efforts are the result of a month-long inspection campaign by the Directorate General of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources for the Governorate of the Interior.
