Egypt buys 360,000 tonnes of wheat in a purchase tender

Cairo: Egypt's state grain buyer GASC bought 360,000 tonnes of wheat in a purchase tender on Saturday, it said.
GASC said it had bought 240,000 tonnes of Russian wheat and 120,000 tonnes of Romanian wheat, continuing the dominance of Black Sea-origin wheat, which made up the lion's share of purchases in last year's state tenders.
GASC assured markets on Saturday that a court ruling expected to scrap Egypt's new food inspection system this week will not reinstate its controversial ban on the common grain fungus ergot, a policy that wreaked havoc on its purchase tenders last year.
