Annual industry survey under way in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced the launch of an annual industrial survey to assess the working industrial facilities in the Sultanate, which have an investment of more than OMR5,000, with a workforce of a minimum of 10 workers or more.
The survey is aimed at collecting industrial data regarding industrial facilities for the fiscal year 2016. The survey started on May 8, 2017 and will last until July 8, 2017 in all governorates of the Sultanate.
The Director of the Industrial Information Department and the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Saleh Bin Mahmoud Al Zadjali, said 912 facilities are included in the industrial survey. Of these, 560 are in Muscat, 88 in Dhofar, 67 in Al Buraimi, 47 in As’Sharqiyah South, 47 in Ad Dakhliyah, 28 in Al Dahirah, 42 in As’Sharqiyah North, 25 in South Al Batinah and eight industrial facilities in Musandam, in addition to the free zones.
Al Zadjali added: “The ministry undertakes the annual industrial survey that aims to provide a modern integrated database of the industrial sector in the Sultanate in order to use the data in formulating plans, policies, programmes and for other purposes that will help develop the Sultanate as the scan is performed electronically, in addition to field visits to the targeted facilities.”
He further said that the forms for the industrial survey are available through e-mail.
The Director of Industrial Information Department urged the owners of industrial facilities to cooperate with experts from the ministry and submit the necessary forms for the industrial survey at the earliest. He also assured that all data submitted will be treated as confidential and won’t be used for any purpose, other than for planning and other studies in accordance with the Statistics Act issued by Royal Decree No. (29/2001).
