Nama Group signs pact with National Youth Committee

Muscat: Nama Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Youth Committee on Wednesday to implement the third edition of Wiyakum 2017 at Nama Holding Building.
The agreement was signed by Nama Group’s CEO, Eng. Omar bin Khalfan Al Wahaibi, and by the National Youth Committee’s Chairman Dr. Rashid bin Salim Al Hajri.
Nama Group believes in the value of Youth participation in the country’s development and their major role of enhancing volunteering culture in the society. In this regards, Eng. Omar Said: “Wiyakum competition is one of main sustainability initiatives of Nama Group to develop sustainable projects related to the sustainability pillars of the Group; social, economic and environment.”
The competition aims to implement Nama’s sustainability policy of the group by engaging the Youth and encouraging them to execute their innovative ideas and projects in a sustainable manner.”
On the other hand, Dr. Rashid bin Salim Al Hajri, Chairman of the National Youth Committee, said: “Such competitions enrich the role of young people and empower them to contribute in the development of society.
These projects enhance their skills and creative abilities by setting sustainability as one of the main criteria of the project’s success. This will help them gain a wide experience, which will help them in all life’s fields.”
The competition targets three main categories, namely the youth, non-profit organisations, sports clubs and affiliated teams.
The competition will start in mid-June this year, and applications will be received through the National Youth Committee website www.nyc.om.
The applications will be evaluated by a specialised team in the field of sustainability and voluntary work according to the conditions and criteria of the competition. The winners will be announced on October 26th, 2017 on the Omani Youth Day.
