Blue collar expat workers in Oman served Iftar meals

Muscat: Hundreds of blue collar expats were served free Iftar meals last Monday, as a local initiative continues to organise Iftar events in the community.
The Fahaddath initiative, meaning “to activate,” was started by more than 50 Omanis, and has planned many events to spread social awareness and charity work.
On Monday, Fahaddath organised an Iftar event for construction workers in Baushar.
“Many of the expatriates in the construction area were not Muslims,” said Shaker Al Raisi, the campaign organiser.
“We imagined how those underprivileged workers of different religions would feel being served food and drinks by locals. We have travelled from all parts of the Sultanate to tell them that they are welcome here,” Al Raisi said.
“Meat-free meals were also served for vegetarian workers,” he added.
According to Al Raisi, the initiative hopes to connect community members with less visible members of society.
“Get to know your guard at the hospital, or the school, or a building in the Muttrah area,” their latest campaign said, of their upcoming event in Muttrah.
The volunteer group hopes to invite more individuals to join them in distributing Iftar throughout Ramadan, and details of their events can be accessed on their Instagram handle, @fahaddath.
