Muscat: A letter of understanding to facilitate the exchange of students, researchers, staff members and educational resources between both parties, as well as research and publishing collaboration and joint development projects has been signed by Sultan Qaboos University and Finland University.
The collaboration between SQU and Finland University Inc. is primarily focused on the fields of learning, education and teacher education; health and biosciences; and entrepreneurship, business and innovation. The LoU will remain in force for five years. It was signed by H.E. Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, Vice Chancellor of SQU and Mr. Pekka T. Saavalainen, Chief Executive Officer of Finland University Inc.
The Office of International Cooperation at Sultan Qaboos University had organised “SQU-Finland universities Joint Research Workshop” in 2016 to explore collaborative research between SQU and Finnish universities in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation, health and biological sciences, and teachers’ training. The workshop explored collaboration in teaching innovation and entrepreneurship and to contribute to national innovation systems in Finland and Oman; exchange of experiences between SQU and Finland Universities in relation to pre- and in-service teacher training, schools system and new trends in teacher education; and, explored trends of cancer and research challenges in Oman and Finland.
