Civil Service Minister issues circular on government employees business in Oman

Muscat: A circular was issued by Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service for all units of the state administrative apparatus on the adoption of two alternatives allowing full-time government employees to establish and manage their own businesses.
The first alternative stipulates that an employee shall submit a request to resign to establish and manage his/her private business. The resigned employee will be granted a monthly sum of money equal to his full salary for one year from the date of termination of his service. The second alternative stipulates that an employee shall apply for unpaid leave to establish and manage his/her business for a period not exceeding four consecutive years.
The circular comes following the implementation of a decision by the Council of Ministers during its meeting No. 2/2016 within the framework of its keenness to help employees in establishing and managing their private businesses for the public interest.
