New Delhi: Purab Kohli is usually a bundle of nerves on the first day of his film's release. Not just this, the 38-year-old compares Friday releases to the appraisal period [when employees' performance is assessed]. "Just like employees in corporate offices have their annual appraisal period, where they get nervous about what will happen with their salaries, or whether they will get promotions or not, we [actors] too, feel the first Friday jitters," says Purab, who was last seen in the Sonakshi Sinha starrer, Noor. "Every Friday is our appraisal time. We are nervous about the response our film will get on the opening day, because that sets the trend for the rest of the weeks," he adds. To calm his anxiety, Purab shares that he checks out movie reviews on social media and how the audience reacts to the film and his role. "Fans often send me reviews of what some critics have written online. Then there are some trusted newspaper reviews that I definitely check and see what they have to say. And then finally, there's obviously audience reaction on social media that gives you a clear picture. Though it's not that I am glued to my phone all the time, I want to know what people are saying or how they react," says Purab, who has worked in films such as My Brother Nikhil (2005), Rock ON! (2008) and Airlift (2016). However, the actor understands that the fate of the film is not in his hands, and he tries his best to not get affected by the response. "I give my best till the time the shoot gets over, and beyond that it's out of my control. I know that we can't do anything about it, and ultimately audience is the best judge," he adds.
