Vegetable, fruit supplies in Oman adequate, prices stable, says ministry

Muscat: Vegetable, fruit supply position in Oman is comfortable, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has assured.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries said that there are enough supplies of vegetables and fruits at Al Mawaleh Central Market, in addition to the quantities at the chillers. The Ministry also affirmed that the prices are stable and as usual.
At the coordination meeting, the Ministry praised the response of the suppliers and their compliance with providing a certificate proving that the consignments exported to the Sultanate are free of pesticides residues.
The Ministry also said that it has formed a work team with the Public Authority for Consumer Protection and the Oman Agricultural Society to identify the local and imported vegetables and fruits at Al Mawaleh Central Market and their wholesale prices. A meeting was held with traders, importers and users to ensure enough supplies of these products.
