Muscat: Sohar Power Company, the owner of Sohar water desalination plant and Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP), the company responsible for the procurement, are making efforts to restart the plant after the sudden technical breakdown on Tuesday, said a statement of Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW).
PAEW said in statement after the plant shutdown that the emergency plan was immediately activated. The Main Emergency Committee and the national teams at the governorates held meetings to solve the problem. Citizens and residents in the Governorates of North Al Batinah and Al Buraimi were advised through PAEW website on the social networks, audio, visual and print media means and SMS to regulate their use of water. The authority called upon citizens and residents to take necessary measures and rationalise water consumption until the plant resumes operation.
