North Korea launching a ballistic missile from a test facility near its west coast on Sunday morning local time that flew 435 miles -- according to the South Korean military.
The North has attempted but failed to test-launch ballistic missiles four consecutive times in the past two months.
U.S. President Donald Trump warned in an interview with Reuters in late April that a "major, major conflict" with the North was possible, but he would prefer a diplomatic outcome to the dispute over its nuclear and missile programs.
The latest launch also comes just days after South Koreans went to the polls to elect a new president
