Truckload of bootleg smokes seized en route to Oman

Muscat: Hundreds of boxes of contraband cigarettes have been confiscated en route to Oman, according to the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
The General Directorate of Inquiries and Investigations (GDII) in the Al Dakhaliyah Governorate seized a truck in Wilayat of Manah with large quantities of illegal cigarettes.
An official from the ROP stated the Crime Department at GDII, in coordination with the police in the area, found the vehicle loaded with 570 large boxes of cigarettes worth more than OMR 140,000.
The truck driver has been arrested and the case has been passed on to Public Prosecution.
