Oman, South Korea discuss economic, trade cooperation

Duqm: Oman and South Korea discussed several aspects of joint economic and trade cooperation in the Special Economic Zone in Duqm (SEZD).
Chung Sye-kyun, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, who is visiting the Sultanate, on Monday met with Yahya bin Said Al Jabri, Chairman of the Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm (SEZAD).
SEZAD Chairman presented a brief profile on the progress of work in the region, referring to the role played by the Korean Dry Dock Company through training the Omani youth in this field.
He called on the South Korean small and medium companies to invest in Duqm and in other zones, such as Ports of Salalah and Sohar through opening
factories or the assembly of industries in the Sultanate.
Yahya Al Jabri referred to the expansion of Korean investments in the fields of health, education, tourism, light industries, heavy and petrochemical industries. He affirmed the keenness to minimise all difficulties facing the Korean investor.
Chung Sye-kyun, Speaker of the Korean National Assembly highlighted the importance of developing and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, calling to invest in light and heavy industries, education, training, defence and other available fields.
He also expressed his willingness to convey all ideas and proposals exchanged during these meetings with the officials in the Sultanate and endeavouring to augment economic and trade cooperation.
