Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) inaugurated the NRAA Secure Document Destruction Laboratory.
Sayyid Haitham said in a statement: “This laboratory, which opens today, comes as an integral part of the work of NRAA. It works on destroying documents and disposing of them in a modern manner, after coordination with various governmental bodies. The laboratory plays its role in destroying documents between NRAA and various ministries and governmental institutions”.
The laboratory provides all solutions and services for the secure destruction of paper and electronic documents and similar to all government agencies, companies, private institutions and individuals.
The lab is the first of its kind in the Middle East. The lab provides a range of services including destruction of documents and paper documents, destruction of hard disks, destruction of CDs, videos and audio tapes), destruction of communication equipment, frequency and digital frequency. Meanwhile, Sayyid Haitham chaired the 12th and first meeting for 2017 of the NRAA Board of Directors.
The Board discussed the workflow of NRAA future plans. It adopted minutes of the previous meeting, as well as the final report of NRAA for 2016, in addition to adopting the approved budget of NRAA for 2017 and linking the budget to the implementation of the approved action plan for the NRAA programs and activities for this year.
