Royal Oman Police hosts 'Annual Day' celebrations

Muscat: Royal Oman Police (ROP) celebrated its Annual Day, which falls on January 5 each year, on Tuesday.
The celebration was held at the Military Parade Field at the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences (SQAPS) in the wilayat of Nizwa in the Governorate of A'Dakhiliyah under the patronage of Darwish bin Ismaiel Al Balushi, minister responsible for Financial Affairs and in the presence of Lt. Gen Hassan bin Mohsen Al Shariqi, inspector general of Police and Customs.
The chief guest handed over awards to the top graduates from the 36th batch of officers, the 37th batch of cadet officers with specialised university degrees, the 38th batch of cadet officers with diplomas, the 2nd batch of limited service and 68th batch of the new police recruits and female police officers.
He also conferred medals of efficient service on a number of ROP officers in recognition of their dedication in carrying out their sacred national duty.
The ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, advisors, commanders of the Sultans Armed Forces, security services, honourable members of the State Council, members of the Majlis Al Shura, Governor of A'Dakhiliyah, walis, judges of the courts, local officials, sheikhs, dignitaries of the Governorate of A'Dakhiliyah and a number of ROP commissioned and non-commissioned offices.
The academy banner was then handed over from the 38th batch of cadet officers to the 39th batch of cadet officers. The graduates then sang the ROP anthem and took the oath of loyalty and allegiance, while the ROP band played the royal anthem.
During the ceremony, it was announced that the North Al Batinah Governorate Police Headquarters had won the ROP Criminal Intelligence Award, which was introduced in a bid to enhance awareness about the importance of criminal intelligence and promote competition among the different police formations in the field of criminal intelligence.
The award also aims to encourage them to perform better to limit the number of crimes, arrest perpetrators and refer them to justice.
On the sidelines of the ROP Annual Day, Lt. Gen. Hassan bin Mohsen Al Shraiqi, the inspector general of Police and Customs handed over academic certificates to graduates and honoured instructors and trainers.
He also honoured the top graduate officers and handed them their graduation certificates. The celebration was attended by Maj. Gen Sulaiman bin Mohammed Al Harthy, assistant inspector general of Police and Customs for Administrative and Financial Affairs and Maj.
Gen. Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Hatmi, assistant inspector general of Police and Customs for Operations, commanders of ROP formations, and supervisory and training staff of Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences were also present at the event.
