Muscat: From questions on movies to questions on sports, Greycaps team did not leave any topic untouched for the prelims of the Times of Oman Inter School Quiz Contest (TOOISQC) organised at the Pakistan School Muscat.

A large group of enthusiastic junior and senior students from the school participated in the quiz with keenness.
Summing up the event, quiz master Lloyd Saldanha said, “It was a wonderful quiz at Pakistan School Muscat. The juniors seemed to relate to logical thinking very easily. It was a completely refreshing experience even with the seniors. I hope they build on such a good start at the prelims and qualify for the mega prelims and then the finals.”
The students who took part in the quiz conveyed their joy for being part of the event that inspires students to gain knowledge.
Dr Sathish Nambiar, managing director of Eventful/Doc LLC said, “We witnessed a great performance from the students of Pakistan School Muscat. We thank the school authorities for encouraging the students to participate.”
Times of Oman has outsourced the organisation of 2017 edition of the inter school quiz to the leading event management company, Eventful/Doc LLC.
Appreciating the Times of Oman initiative, a parent of a student of Pakistan School Muscat said that it is great that a newspaper is using quizzing as a medium to connect to children of today. They added that the quiz adds to children’s.
The senior teams of Pakistan School Muscat answered questions such as: “Dreams from my Father’ and ‘Audacity of Hope’ are books by which American President?” (Barack Obama); “If you are penalised while playing the puck and sent to Sin-Bin, what were you playing?” (Ice Hockey) and “What is the rank of James Bond in the Royal Navy?” (Commander).
The junior attempted questions such as “According to the Oxford English Dictionary this word means “A dish of pieces of meat, fish, or vegetables roasted or grilled on a skewer or spit.” Its origin is from a late 17th century Arabic word. What word?” (Kabab); “It is an emergency code word used internationally as a distress signal in radio communication; it comes from French meaning ‘come help me’. What phrase?” (May Day) and “The players of which cricket playing African nation are known as Proteas?” (South Africa).
Quizmaster Giri ‘Pickbrain’ Balasubramaniam will conduct the mega prelims on April 27 at Indian School Muscat from 4 pm onwards. The two finals of the contest are slated for Saturday, April 29, at the City Amphitheatre in Qurum.
