Muscat: The Oman Football Association (OFA) on Sunday announced the launch of Oman Air All-Stars Programme, which is aimed at developing the skills of young players across the Sultanate.
The new initiative was launched at the OFA Headquarters at Seeb Sports Stadium in the presence of OFA General Secretary and CEO Sultan Al Zadjali and Oman Air General Manager of Marketing Mohammed Al Shukaili.
The programme will officially start with a five-a-side football tournament at the Seeb Sports Stadium on March 12.
Speaking on the occasion, Oman Air’s Mohammed Al Shukaili said: “We are delighted to launch this initiative in partnership with the Oman Football Association. We have a privileged partnership with the Oman Football Association in serving the Omani community and we are very proud of this cooperation as we look forward to supporting more such initiatives in the future.”
“All-Stars programme gives the players the opportunity to develop their skills and their careers. These players will go through several stages acquiring a number of different skills,” he added.
The Oman Air official also revealed plans to start promotional campaigns of the programme.
“We will soon start promotional campaigns so that everyone will get to know about the programmes and also identify themselves with all the aspects of this initiative,” he said.
Meanwhile, OFA Technical Department chief Jim Selby stressed the importance of such programmes in grooming the young talents for the future.
He said: “There are talented players all over the Sultanate. This programme is aimed at spotting and grooming those players so that in future there will be a big pool of talent from which the clubs and the national teams can pick players.”
“The importance of this kind of programmes is to develop their skills and take them to next level as well as spot and nurture more promising talents. And make them ready for the bright future that awaits from in Oman football,” he said while thanking Oman Air for the continued support to the various programmes of the OFA.
