1,000 to take part in SABIS Tournament in Oman

Muscat: At least 1,000 participants from 32 SABIS schools around the world are expected to attend the 11th SABIS Regional Tournament slated for this weekend.
The international sporting competition brings together teams of athletes from SABIS schools around the world. Students will meet and compete in a range of sports, including swimming, basketball, soccer, sprint, relay, and long jump.
Every other year, one of the schools within the SABIS network is chosen to host this much-anticipated event. This year’s tournament will be hosted by The International School of Choueifat-Muscat, a SABIS Network school located in Muscat, Oman.
School principal Armen Mansourian said he is delighted to hold the tournament in Muscat.
“It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our wonderful school and this beautiful country. We have students joining us from 14 countries across the world, so it will be great to show them what Oman has to offer. We will enjoy working with local businesses to ensure our visitors appreciate our beloved country. Over the course of three days, our guests will occupy local hotels, visit local landmarks and enjoy the renowned Omani hospitality. We are looking forward to hosting our guests and promoting Oman.”
13 countries
Students will be travelling from 13 different countries, including Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Germany, Jordan, Kurdistan-Iraq, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Romania, Syria and the United
Arab Emirates.
Opening ceremony
The opening ceremony will be held on the ISC-Muscat school campus on April 20 at 5:00 p.m. and the games will take place on April 21, 22, and 23.
The closing ceremony is set for April 23 at 5:30 p.m., where medals, trophies, and awards will be distributed.
