Muscat: Within the framework of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s Royal Care and keenness to activate the provision of the Basic Law of the State with relation to the Council of Oman and to ensure public interest, during the past period, His Majesty the Sultan has ordered to return three draft laws to the Council of Oman – as per the provision of Article (58) bis (35) of the Basic Law of the State.
Majlis Al Shura has hailed the Royal Orders of His Majesty to return the draft laws on auto insurance, Takaful Insurance and land transport law to the Council of Oman, to reconsider them in light of the remarks associated with the draft laws that were referred to it by the Council of Ministers with regard to these laws.
The Joint Committee of the State Council and Majlis Al Shura has revised the articles of these laws. The Committee has provided its legal and legislative views regarding amending some of these articles.
Majlis Al Shura praised His Majesty’s support and care for the Shura march, as well as His Majesty’s keenness to ensure more progress in this march by activating the provisions of the Basic Law of the State and laying the proper bases and principles for the correct Shura practice.
Shura on Tuesday held its six session of its first sitting of the 8th term at Al Bustan Area under the chair of Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura. Majlis Al Shura appreciated His Majesty’s remarks on some articles of this law.
After detailed discussion, Majlis Al Shura decided that these remarks enhance the role of law and ensure the nation and people’s interests.
During the session, the members listened to the reply of the Council of Ministers on the reply of the Council of Ministers on Majlis Al Shura circular on tourism which was approved by Majlis Al Shura.
After detailed discussion of the report of the joint committee with the State Council, Majlis Al Shura also approved the proposed amendments on the auto insurance law. It also approved the draft takaful insurance law and land transport draft law.
It also approved the report of the services and social development committee on the draft cooperation agreement between the government of the Sultanate of Oman and the government of the UAE in the field of passengers and goods land transport.
