Muscat: Even a twelve-year-old kid can set an example on environment cleanliness to others.
For his campaign to educate people to not litter on beaches, the child prodigy, Hamad Al Jaafari, has been honoured by the Environment Authority.
Despite his young age, Al Jaafari has participated in several campaigns to clean Al Ashkara Beach in Jalan Bani Bu Ali during the last two years. As a kind gesture, Al Jaafari presents visiting tourists with a red rose and a message not to litter on the beaches.
“When I saw a lot of tourists coming to our wilayat to visit Al Ashkara beach, I decided to welcome them with a rose. People thank me for this initiative and I have a great feeling,” Al Jaafari added.
Salim Ghanam Al Jafaary, one of the relatives of Al Jaafari said: “This year, we have witnessed a huge surge in visitors to Al Ashkara Beach as Salalah is closed. Al Ashkara is known for its cold and moderate weather throughout the year.”
“Hamad welcomes tourists and urges them to keep the beach clean. He has the full support of family in this initiative,” Salim added.

The Environment Authority said: “The clip circulating on social media about a child distributing roses and educating people on the importance of environment conservation by urging them to not throw waste on Al Ashkara beach in South Al Sharqiyah is true. The environment departments in North and South Al Sharqiyah have honoured Hamad Al Jaafari for his initiative.”
In the future, he is planning to form a team of children interested in preserving the environment of Oman and to carry out environmental campaigns.
