Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,706.86 points, down 1.05 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended down 0.29 per cent at 521.25 points. Oman Education & Training Investment, up 4.17 per cent was the top gainer while Sohar International Bank, down 4.76 per cent, was the top loser. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 207 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.3 million, with more than 2.0 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 12 declined and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR32,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR18,000 followed by local GCC & Arab for OMR13,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 0.91 per cent at, 6,011.84 points. Sohar International Bank, Bank Nizwa, Bank Muscat and Al Madina Takaful were down by 4.76 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.52 per cent and 1.32 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,985.20 points, down 0.10 per cent. Oman Refreshment was up by 0.42 per cent. Oman Cement and Al Anwar Ceramic were down by 0.87 per cent and 0.62 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.08 per cent before closing at 1,572.05 points. Oman Education & Train Investment, Al Maha Petroleum and Al Suwadi Power were up by 4.17 per cent, 3.13 per cent and 1.85 per cent respectively. Renaissance Service, OIFC, Omantel and Ooredoo were down by 2.92 per cent, 1.06 per cent, 0.64 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively.
