Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,771.89 points, up 0.54 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended up by 0.09 per cent at 524.78. Oman Oil Marketing, up 5.26 per cent was the top gainer while ACWA Power, down 19.8 per cent, was the top loser. HSBC was active in terms of the number of shares traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 620 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.0 million, with more than 14.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded stocks, 17 advanced, 8 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net sellers for OMR143,000 while GCC & Arab were net buyers for OMR74,000 followed by foreign for OMR70,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 0.73 per cent at 6,125.98 points. HSBC Oman, Sohar International Bank, United Finance, Oman United and Al Omaniya Financial were up by 3.16 per cent, 1.90 per cent, 1.59 per cent, 1.54 per cent and 1.28 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment and National Bank of Oman were down by 4.00 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,000 points, up 0.15 per cent. Al Maha Ceramics, Oman Cement, Al Anwar Ceramic, Al Jazeera Steel and Gulf International were up by 2.46 per cent, 1.75 per cent, 1.3 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.9 per cent respectively. Dhofar Cattle Feed and Raysut Cement were down by 10.00 per cent and 0.63 per cent respectively.
Services index was up 0.30 per cent before closing at 1,579.00 points. Oman Oil, Al Maha, Petroleum, Al Batinah Power and Omantel were up by 5.88 per cent, 3.45 per cent, 1.85 per cent and 0.65 per cent respectively. Muscat Gases, ACWA Power, Phoenix Power and Shell Oman were down by 19.80 per cent, 1.79 per cent and 0.48 per cent respectively.
