‘Thank you for your support. It’s good to be back.’

August 24, we hope, will always be a significant day for Oman.
It’s not just that your favourite newspaper is back, thanks to your loyal support, but this, alongside the developments of our country, has given us the ambition to expand, even while many organisations contract (shrink).
After 45 years of reporting on all aspects of Oman’s life, once again Times of Oman will be launching an evening e-paper from Monday— another first in the country. We made history on February 23, 1975, when the Sultanate got its first English language newspaper.
In the fast-changing world of media, we feel there is always a room for an evening e-paper to know Oman better. However, amid all this, I want to reassure you that one thing remains unchanged — our total commitment to Times of Oman, and to you, the readers.
We take heart from the fact that there are more of you today than ever before. Our online readership crossed the 25 million mark for the first time in March 2020.
The arrival of the pandemic has forced many of us to adapt quickly to the current situation. With the printing of papers temporarily halted, we moved to a digital e-paper to ensure that our readers continue to receive the latest news.
We added brain-teasing, entertaining puzzles to stimulate the minds of everyone, both young and old.
Daily news bulletins, broadcast twice a day, made sure our readers were able to update themselves with developments as they happened, while our yoga, comedy and art and craft videos were created with the idea to ease stress, while also providing all of us with the opportunity to learn something new.
But all of this would not have been possible without your valuable feedback. As a media organisation that dedicates itself to its audience, it is your comments and suggestions that have helped us in moving forward, and we hope that this long and fruitful partnership continues to thrive in the years to come.
We have seen an unprecedented increase in new readers and subscribers since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. To all those new subscribers, let me say: Thank you. We will do everything we can to keep your trust.
You know you can rely on us, and we know we can rely on you. And we will do everything we can to keep it that way — today, tomorrow, and every day.
