Work on new Indian School Ibra building set to begin

Muscat: Indian School Ibra will be moving into a new building to start senior secondary classes.
The school’s Board of Directors had recently signed an agreement with investor Saif bin Hashil Al Maskery for constructing a new building in Al Yahmadi, Ibra that will equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
“The new premises will be operational within two years,” said Wilson V. George, chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools.
The Principal of Indian School Ibra, Regi Oommen, said the school authorities will be able to start senior secondary classes when the new building is completed. “We will have more than 40 classrooms, which will help us increase the school size.”
Currently, 897 students are studying in Indian School Ibra and it operates from a rented building.
The school was established by the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in 1991 and is located in the Sharqiya region, 175 kilometres away from Muscat. The signing ceremony took place at the office of Al Maskery on March 12.
George said the event marked the realisation of relentless efforts made by the school management, along with the parent community of Indian School Ibra.
Robin Rohit Vincent, the president of the School Management Committee, expressed gratitude to Saif Bin Hashil Al Maskery for his support towards the Indian community in Ibra and thanked the Board for all its support.
Completion in 2018
Indian School Board Vice-Chairman C.M. Najeeb, directors in charge of the school, Baby Sam Samuel and Dr. C.K. Anchan, Principal Regi Oommen and Assistant Education Advisor Alex C. Joseph were also present on the occasion.
The construction work will commence shortly and is expected to be completed in 2018.
