One year jail, OMR 2,000 fine for violating movement ban

Muscat: An Omani citizen has been convicted to one year in jail and a fine of OMR 2,000 after he violated the movement ban in North Al Batinah Governorate, the Public Prosecution said.

According to the Public Prosecution, his driving licence has been withdraw after he was found recklessly driving in residential areas under the influence of alcohol.

"The court of First Instance in North Al-Batinah convicted a citizen for violating the movement ban issued by the Supreme Committee to deal with Covid 19. The ruling sentenced the convicted person to one year in prison, OMR 2000, and the withdrawal of his driver's license for a period of 6 months,” Public Prosecution said in a statement.
