OMR111,000 raised for Lebanon in four days

Muscat: Donations raised by the Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO) to help those affected by the blast in Beirut have crossed OMR100,000 until Sunday evening.
According to donate.om, the government-run portal where people can make donations to registered charities, OMR111,945 had been contributed to the OCO by 7,530 donors.
Bank accounts for people to send donations to Lebanon were set up just one day after a terrible explosion rocked the Port of Beirut, causing heavy damage to the immediate and surrounding areas, resulting in the death of more than 150 people, and injuries to thousands more.
The amount of money contributed towards relief efforts in Lebanon comes from both the Oman Charitable Organisation and Dar Al Atta'a. Those who wish to donate funds to help people who’ve been severely affected by the incident are welcome to donate to either of these charities.
Four bank accounts have been set up for this purpose: donations can be made to Bank Muscat (account number 0423010706280016), National Bank of Oman, (1049337798005), Bank Dhofar (01040609090001), and Oman Arab Bank (3101053013500).
According to financial reports available on the donate.om portal, OMR28,375 has been received through Dar Al Atta’a Salama Beirut (Safe Beirut) campaign, while the remaining fund (OMR109,474) has come from the OCO’s Aid Lebanon initiative.
The Omani government has also organised and sent medical supplies to help with the relief efforts currently underway in Lebanon. Oman’s first relief flight to Beirut, containing 22 tonnes of medical supplies and other essential goods arrived in the city on 7 August.
Oman’s Ministry of Defence said on the same day: “Military transport planes from the Royal Air Force of Oman have arrived in Lebanon and the process of unloading the medical relief materials and other essential items is underway.”
