Indian politician Amar Singh dies at 64

Muscat: Stalwart Indian politician and a member of the Upper House of Parliament, Amar Singh, has died at the age of 64, Indian media reported on Saturday.

He had been ailing for a long time and was in Singapore for treatment at the time of his death. Singh, a former leader of the Samajwadi (socialist) Party in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, had suffered a kidney failure in 2013.
