Muscat: The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), has issued Bulletin No.1 on the weather conditions over the Arabian Sea.
PACA said, "The latest weather charts and analysis of the National Multi Hazards Early Warning Centre show the existence of a low pressure system over the Arabian Sea. This is causing an advection of clouds with chances of varying intensity of rainfall and occasionally thundershowers over the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar. This may be associated with fresh downdraft winds that could cause sand dunes and dust storms over deserts and open areas. The effect of this system will be from Friday 17th July until Monday 20th July."
"PACA advises the citizens and expatriates to take precautions and stay away from low level areas, avoid crossing wadis and to make sure of the sea state and avoid venturing into the sea and follow all weather bulletins," the statement added.
