Oman ambassador to India issues guidelines on residents' return

Muscat: H.E the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of India said on Thursday that the resident permit holders can obtain an entry permit by applying for the same with concerned authorities in the Sultanate either through their family members or their company.

His Excellency Sheikh Hamed bin Saif Al Rawahi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of India, spoke exclusively with The Times of Oman about the ways in which residents can return from India. He said, “The embassy in India only facilitates the return of residents approved by Omani authorities after getting the necessary approval from the Indian government. The resident permit holders can obtain an entry permit by applying for the same with concerned authorities in the Sultanate either through their family members or their Company. Those granted entry permits can proceed with the local clearance and travel arrangement.”

He further stressed, “Since these are special circumstances and the air services are operating only for rescue and repatriation purposes, the approvals are mandatory as on date from both the countries. Ever since the flights were suspended between the two countries, the Omani embassy in India has worked hard to provide humanitarian assistance to residents stranded in India and help them return to the Sultanate, whether to unite with their family members or to join jobs urgently."
