Old air conditioners of needy families to be replaced

Muscat: The Authority for Electricity Regulation – Oman has launched an initiative under the name “Kafa’a and Atta'a” in cooperation with Dar Al Atta'a Charity Association and Oman Environmental Services Holding Company S.A.O.C (be'ah).
The initiative aims to replace old air conditioners in houses of the needy families with new ones. The move comes within the initiatives of Authority for Electricity Regulation to develop the local community and as part of its corporate responsibility towards the community.
The houses which benefit from this initiative would be chosen on certain conditions under the supervision of Dar Al Atta'a Association.
Under the initiative split unit air conditioners would replace air conditioners more than 10 years old. These air conditioners are a key factor in the increase of power consumption and hence payment of higher electricity charges by such families.
Oman Environmental Services Holding Company S.A.O.C (be'ah) would ensure safe disposal of old air conditioners and would work on recycling of such old machines in cooperation with SMEs which would be given priority in installation of new air conditioner units at the houses of the needy families.
