Muscat: An expat was arrested for stealing from a home in Al Dhahirah Governorate.
The Royal Oman Police said in a statement, "Al Dhahirah Governorate Police Head has arrested an Asian for stealing from a house in the absence of the residents. Legal procedures are being completed against him."
The Royal Oman Police calls on citizens and residents to exercise caution and take all safety and protection measures for their private property.
In an unrelated incident, the police thwarted a smuggling operation of large quantities of cigarettes and illegal immigrants into the Sultanate.
Royal Oman Police said in a statement, "The Coast Guard patrols, along with the Musandam Governorate police, seized a smuggling boat with was carrying 3500 boxes of smuggled cigarettes, onboard were three persons belonging to the Asian community who were being illegally brought into the Sultanate. Legal procedures against them are underway."
