COVID-19: Ministry of Manpower issues list of conditions for private companies

Muscat: The Ministry of Manpower issued a list of conditions for private facilities to deal with the coronavirus and set fines for violators of up to OMR 500 for some violations.

The decision instructs institutions to put awareness posters in various languages at the workplace and a fine of OMR 100 for those who fail to do so.

According to Article 3, the Ministry of Manpower and the competent authorities are responsible for controlling private sector establishments in case of any violations of the decisions issued by the committee, and they are entitled to take necessary measures to ensure their compliance with the decisions of the Supreme Committee.

The decision specified a number of violations and the amount of fine allocated:

A fine of OMR 300 for the absence of an emergency plan to limit the spread of COVID-19.

A fine of OMR 100 for not wearing masks and providing a hand sanitizer, OMR100 for not having a thermometer, and OMR100 in the absence of signs of social distancing at the work site or workers ’residence.

OMR 500 fine in the absence of a special record for workers suspected of being infected with the virus.

And OMR 500 fine in the absence of security guards to monitor and record the entry and exit of workers and visitors from the workers' residence.
