Transport ministry clarifies rules for ship repairs in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport has clarified rules for the repair and maintenance of ships in dry docks.

A statement issued online by the Ministry of Transport said: "The Ministry permits carrying out repairs and maintenance of ships in dry docks under the following conditions, with the need to adhere to the general precautionary measures and preventive measures that are issued by the Ministry of Health. "

"All ships must submit a maritime declaration of health at least 24-hours before arrival. In addition any crew member who is suspected of symptoms, should also be isolated from the rest of the crew and quarantined on the ship. Repairs and maintenance operations should not commence until the maritime declaration of health is reviewed, ship is inspected and the clearance certificate is issued."

"During the repair and maintenance process, ship and deck personnel shall wear face masks, maintain social distance of 1.5 metres and avoiding gathering together. No crew charge is permitted until further notice," the statement added.
