Oman takes part in Arab Health Ministers meeting

Muscat: The Sultanate, on Wednesday, took part in a video conference meeting of the Arab Health Ministers Council to discuss the statement issued by the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League on COVID-19.

The Omani delegation is headed by H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al-Hosni, Undersecretary of Health Affairs at the Ministry of Health.

The meeting discussed a number of issues including enhancing the Arab coordination in tackling the health consequences of the pandemic, taking into account providing the required support for the neediest Arab countries depending on the available possibilities for each country.

In addition to strengthening the public health systems giving priority to supporting the Arab countries with the weakest health systems, particularly the countries suffering from the humanitarian crisis

The meeting touched upon the continuation of the main relief supplies and medical products, if available among the states, developing an urgent study for all needs after the pandemic in order to enhance the readiness of the health systems and cooperation between the member states to be ready to deal with any emergency event in the future.

The coordination between the Arab Health Ministers Council and the World Health Organization on the latest preventive measures to combat COVID-19 was highlighted during the meeting.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed the importance of involvement in the global efforts to reach to an effective treatment for COVID-19 and provide it, as soon as possible for the Arab countries, as well as enhancing the cooperation and partnership between the Arab countries in the field of biomedical and viral researches.
