Muscat: For the third consecutive year, Omantel employees participated in the “Fak Kurbah” (Redeeming Anguish) initiative in cooperation with Omani Lawyers Association (OLA).
The initiative aims to collect donations that help in the release of a number of insolvents whose difficult financial circumstances prevented them from paying off their defaulted loans.
The aim of this initiative is to instill the ''With You, For You and For Oman'' Omantel's Ramadan campaign which coincided this year with the Sultanate's efforts in combating coronavirus.
Commenting on this initiative, Laila bint Mohammed Al Wahaibi, Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility at Omantel said, ''Omantel has launched a set of social initiatives that aim to address various social issues based on the company's vital role in the Omani society, showcasing its responsibility as a national company and its commitment to support government authorities and move the development process forward. At the request of its employees, Omantel annually seeks to engage its staff in supporting social responsibility programmes developed by the company. Such humanitarian contribution supports in enhancing the concept of community engagement in the Sultanate."
''For the third year in a row, Omantel employees are allocating their donations to the “Fak Kurbah” initiative which gained wide participation by the company's employees. It is through these donations that we hope to better the life of beneficiaries and facilitate for them a joyous Eid reunion and celebration with their families. We would like to extend our thanks to OLA (Oman Lawyers Association) members for the efforts they exert in organising this initiative for the seventh consecutive year and following up the release of imprisoned citizens. We are pleased to participate with them in this initiative through which we seek to emphasize the importance of donations and voluntary activities and their positive impact on both individuals and society," added Al Wahaibi.
For his part, Dr Hamad Hamadan Al Rabie, member of the Shura Council and Deputy Chairman of OLA, expressed his happiness for the “Fak Kurbah” initiative carried out by Omantel employees and their contribution in redeeming the anguish of many insolvents. He said that the initiative had positively increased the number of deserving beneficiaries and helped them spend the Eid holiday with their families.
It is worth mentioning that Omantel has also supported the Dar Al Atta'a initiative that was launched during the blessed month of Ramadan under the theme "Together in Prosperity and Distress". The initiative targets less fortunate families whose businesses or other small sources of income have been affected by the measures taken to prevent the spread of the Corona Virus. The campaign aims at collecting donations from individuals and corporates and distribute them to families on the verge of losing their sources of income so as to reduce the adverse impact of the pandemic on them.
